CLSA LogoJohn Powell is an artist of Kwakiutl descent. He writes: "From time immemorial the Kwakwala speaking people of the North West coast have had a relationship of respect with the land, sea and the air. The logo designed for the CLSA reflects exactly that sentiment. The first figure in the top left is the bear of the land. He is generally regarded as the law keeper of the house. The second figure on the top right is the eagle of the air who watches over the land to ensure safety. And, thirdly, the killer whale of the sea who keeps watch over the waters of the ocean."
Graphic design of the logo, from the original artwork, was by Mike Carroll. |
