The W. Wesley Pue Book Prize recognises a book in law and society published in the previous year in English or French.
The Article Prize recognises articles in the Canadian Journal of Law and Society. English-language awards are annual; French-language awards are biennial.
The Roderick A. Macdonald Graduate Student Essay Prize recognises a law and society essay written by a graduate student at a Canadian university.
Use the winners as a reading list: identify a question that interests you, locate the publication, and compare its approach with another work. Prize announcements establish recognition; they do not replace reading the research itself.

Book and essay prizes are annual. The English article prize is annual and the French article prize biennial.
Choose the prize route before preparing a submission
The three prize families concern different kinds of work. Use this record to identify a relevant route and the questions still requiring the current call. It does not announce a new competition, deadline or automatic eligibility.
Identify the actual work: book, published journal article or graduate essay. Record title, author, language and publication status. A manuscript and a published article are not interchangeable categories.
Match the work to the association’s named prize family. Keep the award year separate from the work’s publication year. Do not infer a future cycle from a historical winners list.
Open the current specific call and check the permitted period, author status, nomination route and required files. Where the overview does not answer a question, ask the association rather than copying a previous deadline.
Keep a submission record with the source version, unresolved conditions and actual confirmation. An email draft is not proof of receipt, and recognition of a past work does not establish a new work’s eligibility.

Article route
CLSA Article Prize: Canadian Journal of Law and Society. English and French cycles differ; check the relevant language and publication period.

Fictional triage
An unpublished draft article does not become eligible for the journal article prize merely because its topic is law and society. Record “publication requirement unresolved”; ask before submitting.
