Update regarding the strike at Faculty of Law, McGill University, and Congress CLSA is planning to hold its annual conference at McGill during Congress, but the Faculty of Law is currently on strike. We support our colleagues in taking this work action. Significant planning has already gone into organizing our annual meeting, with over 150 members scheduled to attend. Under no circumstances can we cross a picket line; hopefully the strike will be resolved quickly. In case that it is not, we will move to an alternative venue. We are monitoring the situation closely and considering venues nearby McGill Faculty of Law. We are doing our best to keep our Annual Meeting as scheduled so as not to affect the ongoing travel arrangements of participants. We will post updates as more information is available. We do expect that other organizations may follow our lead in moving their meetings away from McGill.
CLSA 2024 Annual Meeting Travel Grant
The Priority will be given to graduate students, early career researchers in financial need, and participants that meet the registration category criteria of underemployed or unemployed attendee. The travel grant of a minimum of $250 is designed to help cover travel expenses within Canada (transport to Montréal and accommodation), but in exceptional circumstances it may cover costs for graduate students without travel expenses such as registration (the value will be adjusted and more likely below $250). Depending on the number of applications and on the availability of additional funding, the value of the travel grant will be slightly improved, and priority will be given to those with higher travel expenses. Grants will be paid by cheque to successful applications in May 2024 (prior to the Conference). Eligibility: Candidates must be a presenting member, in good standing, of the CLSA for 2024, and be registered for Congress 2024. Procedure: Email your application to acds.clsa2024@gmail.comwith the subject heading 'Application for Travel Grant' including the following information:
Your full name and institutional affiliation (if applicable);
